A string of successes for The Grand, York
York’s only AA rated five-star hotel, The Grand, York, has had a string of triumphs in the past month with esteemed recognition for both individual talent and the soaring success of the hotel.
With a win for Conference Planner of the Year being awarded to Events and Group Sales Executive Jess Winskill as well as The Grand, York being named as a finalist for Best Boardroom, it was an evening of successes at the CHS Awards earlier this month.
The palatial hotel, named Splendid Hospitality’s Hotel of the Year 2019 has also just been triple shortlisted in the Yorkshire White Rose Awards. In the running for best Business Events Venue of the Year, International Tourism Award and Large Hotel of the Year, The Grand, York once again demonstrates its compendium of impressive and comprehensive offerings for both leisure and corporate guests locally and from afar.
Last week (20 June) it was also announced that Jess Winskill and Andrew Dixon, Head Chef Tutor of the hotel’s brand-new cookery school have been shortlisted for the meetings industry association’s coveted miaList 2019. The list recognises inspiring individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty in the business meetings and events industry, playing an instrumental role in the success of their organisations. Andrew’s shortlisting comes after the successful launch of The Cookery School, which opened its doors to aspiring chefs in March this year.
Philip Bolson, The Grand’s General Manager and winner of Splendid Hospitality’s General Manager of the Year award said “It’s been an outstanding year for The Grand, a real testament to the excellence of our team. I’m thrilled for each and every member to be receiving the recognition they deserve, with particular congratulations to Jess and Andrew for their respective accolades. It’s very humbling to be a part of something so special and successful, and with plenty more on the cards for the hotel and The Cookery School in coming months, we’re excited to see what else we can offer.”
