Agency stars in carnival role

Multi-award winning PR agency Approach has donated more than 200 hours of professional time and expertise to Ilkley Carnival, as part of the teams CSR commitment for 2018.

In its January pledge, the Ilkley-based agency vowed to support five charitable causes and organisations in the local area, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment.

For the seventh year, the community-spirited consultancy has extended its helping hand to the 2018 TV Programme themed Ilkley Carnival.

Suzanne Watson, managing director of Approach and a member of Ilkley Carnival committee, said: “Ilkley Carnival has become part of our team’s DNA since we started volunteering our PR services back in 2011. As the event has grown, so too has the PR requirement and we now manage everything from the media relations to the social media platforms and help out with the script and prize giving on the main stage on the day itself.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for our junior team members to really flex their PR creativity and this year, that creativity saw social media engagement at its highest thanks to us introducing social media competitions, fun graphics, imagery and audience polls. It is a fun account but as one of Ilkley’s biggest and best loved family event, we take the carnival’s brand and reputation very seriously and apply the same, award-winning, strategic communications delivery as we do to our paying clients.”

Approach has already committed time to other charities and organisations this year, including giving advice and support through a careers workshop at Bradford Forster Academy with Leeds-based social enterprise, Ahead Partnership.

Suzanne added: “Supporting the next generation of employees through work experience, placements, career talks and school reflects our values of giving back and helping to create ‘work ready’ young people. Our work with the Ahead Partnership is just one element of our wider CSR plan for 2018 which incorporates the elements of education, community, employee, the environment and charity.”

The PR and social media consultancy will be dedicating their time and support to a number of other charities and organisations, later in the year.
