Alexika celebrating 20 years of translation
Chamber member translation and interpretation company Alexika Ltd was founded in November 1998. To celebrate the 20 year anniversary, the company is inviting clients, suppliers, partners and friends to join the team for an Open Office day at the Addingham office on Friday, 30th November.
Alexika was founded by an Anglo/German team including Mark Robinson, a Lancaster University German Studies graduate with 10 years’ experience selling industrial goods around Europe and elsewhere. The first clients were in the local textiles and engineering industries, and they were soon joined by local patent attorneys. Nowadays Alexika works for large and small companies throughout the UK, Germany and Holland. Translation and Training Manager Gemma Smith joined in 2008, and now also runs the training courses for translators on the latest translation management software.
The Addingham-based team today comprises language project managers, themselves post-graduate qualified linguists, who work with translators and interpreters based all over Europe. All major business languages are covered – including some less common ones, such as Mongolian for an international mining company and Romanian for a manufacturer of food technology.
