Approach is just the tonic for Durham Distillery

Yorkshire public relations consultancy, Approach, has been awarded the PR and social media support contract for small-batch craft distillery, Durham Distillery.

The multi-award winning team secured the initial six-month contract after a four-way pitch between national and local agencies and started its media campaigns and social media activity immediately.

Suzanne Watson, managing director at Approach, said: “This is an account we are very excited about, working with such a passionate and knowledgeable team at Durham Distillery and helping to boost awareness of such fantastic quality products is going to be very rewarding – and refreshing!”

“Craft gin is very much the spirit movement of the moment, but we are keen to educate consumers as to traditional distilling, with the best ingredients, and teaching them about a brand which handmakes every single bottle of gin and vodka that they sell.”

Jon Chadwick, founder and owner of Durham Distillery, said: “Approach, with their genuine passion and enthusiasm for the brand and industry, alongside their impressive PR portfolio, delivered creative and exciting ideas which we felt reflected our brand – both now, and what we want it to become. We are a company and team that really cares about each and every aspect of what we do and wanted to work with an agency which not only grasps that, but reflect that ethos too!”

Founded in 2013, Durham Distillery produces Durham Gin, Durham Vodka and Durham Strawberry and Pink Pepper liqueur. Managing the entire distilling process in-house, the team of six produces just a couple of hundred bottles at a time to ensure maximum quality.

Approach specialises in media relations, digital media, B2B public relations and event and campaign management for clients including Airedale Chemical, United Carpets, Kirkgate Shopping, Autochair, and the Business Enterprise Fund. With more than 40 combined years of PR and media experience, the agency also delivers bespoke PR and social media training under its training arm, Approachability.
