  • B&M Waste highly commended at national recycling awards

B&M Waste work in partnership with Crisis, who engage directly with thousands of homeless people every year, to provide vital help so that people can rebuild their lives and are supported out of homelessness for good.

‘Refuse Not Refuge’ is a national campaign highlighting the dangers of sleeping in bins. Working together, B&M Waste and Crisis have developed a series of communications and PR activity to highlight to the homeless community, as well as the general public, the danger and life-ending decision that sleeping in a bin may be.

B&M Waste operates a rigorous staff training and refresher programme to act as a constant reminder for drivers to check each and every container before it is emptied. As part of the campaign they also ensure that all of their largest bins are stickered up clearly with signage and posters.

Speaking on the recognition, Grahame Henderson, Finance Director at B&M Waste Services, said: “Receiving the judges Highly Commended recognition in the National Recycling Awards is a fantastic achievement. We are extremely proud of our Refuse not Refuge campaign with Crisis and are passionate to highlight the dangers of sleeping in bins. We will continue to spread this message far and wide and hope that we can support Crisis further in their aim of ending homelessness.”
