Bradford firm wins sole distribution rights
Bradford-based concrete admixtures specialist Oscrete has been appointed the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for Stikloporas JSC, a Lithuanian producer of expanded glass granules.
The deal, signed last month, will see Oscrete own the rights to distribute the full range of Stikloporas products across the UK and Ireland
Stikloporas is a manufacturer of high quality white expanded glass, also known as granulated foam glass. Located in Druskininkai in Southern Lithuania, the firm has been trading since 2009. Granulated expanded glass is an innovative, ecologically valuable material made by milling recycled glass, mixing it with blowing agents and then melting it down at extremely high temperatures to produce a porous, organic aggregate.
Expanded glass granulate is unique for its granular structure, as this allows air to be trapped inside the pellet. This technology is the latest in its field, and demonstrates the best thermo-isolating and sound-isolating features. The granules can be used across a variety of applications, in the agricultural, automotive, machinery, oil and gas, and bio-filtration sectors and is widely used in construction.
The product can be used loose for thermo-isolation or as a component part of products such as dry mixtures, light concrete, blocks, being an excellent aggregate of concrete and grout. It is also used in sound insulation and fire resistant products.
“We are delighted with the new Oscrete partnership,” stated Simonas Virsilas, Sales Manager Stikloporas. “Their professionalism and reputation in the industry will support our access to this important market sector.”
Oscrete’s Operations Director, Scott Wilson, says the win will allow us to fill a gap in our offering and to be able to supply the absolute latest in glass additive solutions.
“Winning this contract is a massive positive for Oscrete and for our customers as we can now offer them an even more comprehensive portfolio of concrete solutions. The products fit perfectly into our existing offering and match our own ecological and technological ambitions.”
Oscrete has seen a double digit increase in its turnover for the past six years. 2018 has seen the appointment of three regional sales managers, increased penetration into Scotland and the Northern territories. investment in new product development and the planned expansion of its Technical facilities at the company’s headquarters in Bradford.
