Burberry’s decision to relocate 300 jobs from London to Leeds welcomed
Commenting on the news, Jeff Pearey, lead director for the Yorkshire and North East region at JLL, said: “Burberry’s announcement is really strong news for the Leeds office market. Its tremendous piece of inward investment for a city which traditionally relies on demand from indigenous companies for the take-up of new office space. Grade A office availability currently rests at 3.8% of overall stock, and there remains some superb stock available with a number of office development and refurbishment schemes on site, giving businesses a fantastic choice.
“This announcement shows the work being undertaken by the Leeds LEP, in conjunction with the City Council, is on the right track – making strong decisions that support business and pushing ahead with infrastructure projects that help attract investors.
“Post Brexit regional cities will have to be a lot more aggressive and sophisticated in marketing themselves. The arrival of a big brand name such as Burberry certainly helps put Leeds on an even better footing going forward.”
