House purchasing expected to increase by over 120% in January
23 November 2017: As Christmas and New Year fast approach, the housing market is preparing itself for the expected seasonal demand. With previous years’ sales data showing a huge spike in reservations and interest in January, David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East is advising buyers in York looking to move in 2018 to instead act now to beat the festive rush.
David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East saw an 122% increase in sales and reservations in January 2017 compared to December 2016, with visits to developments across the region increasing by 163%. The rise in the number of January house hunters means that competition will be high when it comes to securing a dream property after the New Year.
With this in mind, November and December are set to be the ideal times to start the house buying process to avoid missing out on your pick of the properties available.
Sarah Hanna, Sales Manager at The Chocolate Works in York, commented: “We see such a big increase in interest in January that often properties are snapped up before viewers get to see them. Savvy buyers would definitely have a distinct advantage by house hunting in November and December.”
David Wilson Homes have several schemes to help both first time buyers and current homeowners move in quickly and easily. The Government’s Help to Buy Scheme means buyers can purchase a brand new home up to the value of £600,000 with just a 5% deposit, thanks to a 20% loan from the government.
David Wilson Homes’ Part Exchange scheme is also available for certain properties, and offers buyers the option of selling their existing home to the housebuilder. This allows them to move with no estate agent fees or chains and making the whole process much faster and easier.
The Chocolate Works offers two and three bedroom homes starting from £344,955 and has been awarded Best Design at the 2016 national Housebuilder Awards. Ideally located with a range of local deli’s and restaurants nearby for residents to enjoy, The Chocolate Works is only a short walk away from the vibrant city of York, making it great for professionals and families.
Along with The Chocolate Works, the York area has a number of other homes available at David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes sites including Saxon Gate, Derwenthorpe, Meadow Fields and Pavilion Square.
