Housing staff walk, run, swim and row for charity in 2016
Generous staff, board members and customers at Incommunities have donated over £22,000 for a host of different causes in 2016 – the most the group has ever collected.
The biggest sum raised was £19,000 for the Prince’s Trust, the chosen charity of the housing group’s Group Chief Executive, Geraldine Howley during her presidency of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) for 2015/16.
To round off her presidential year, Geraldine and two of her management team colleagues – Adrienne Reid and Greg Robinson – took part in the Great North Swim raising £ 1,350 in online donations alone for the young people’s charity.
Adrienne and Incommunities’ equalities officer, Jayne Booth, also completed separate swim and marathon challenges to raise more funds.
With the help of housing association colleagues and partners over £45,000 has been donated to the Prince’s Trust.
At the end of 2016, Incommunities made its annual festive donation of £1,000 to the national homeless charity, Crisis, the nominated charity of the current CIH President, Julie Fadden.
Lots more donations were made in 2016 including:
- £1000 for Crisis following a festive staff raffle
- £723 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support at coffee mornings held at Incommunities bases at The Quays and Estate Services
- £210 shared between the Save the Children charity and Crisis in support of Christmas Jumper Day
- £300 raised by the group’s rowing team taking part in the Lord Mayor’s Charity Dragon Boat Festival in Saltaire.
