Rainbows fly high over housebuilder’s York developments

05 June 2018: To celebrate York’s Pride weekend, which took place on 9th and 10th June, local housebuilder Barratt Developments proudly displayed rainbow flags across its York Developments in support of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community in the city and the surrounding area.

Developments that flew the rainbow flag high included Saxon Gate in Stamford Bridge, The Chocolate Works and Derwenthorpe in York, Pavilion Square in Pocklington and Barley Fields in Selby.

Paul Hogan, Sales Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, commented: “We’re delighted to have flown the rainbow flags across our York developments. As a local housebuilder we’re committed to encouraging an inclusive workplace, whether that’s in our Head Office, within our Sales Teams or on our sites, and we’re proud to see the communities in and around our York developments take part in such an important weekend.”

York Pride is run annually to promote equality and diversity, and to eliminate discrimination against the LGBT community on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity. Throughout the weekend, Pride raised awareness and educated the public about the issues and difficulties affecting the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people.
