UberACCESS and uberASSIST has launched in Leeds.
UberACCESS is an award-winning service designed for wheelchair users – available in London since 2016 and launched in 6 more UK cities in 2017 – including Leeds, it allows riders to order a rear-entry wheelchair accessible vehicle through the Uber app at the touch of a button. UberASSIST is a service designed to provide additional assistance for older and/or disabled riders, including those who may just feel more comfortable with an extra hand when getting from door to door. Currently available in 10 UK cities, including Leeds.
UberACCESS and uberASSIST drivers are top rated partners who have received specialised training by a third party. It includes Disability Equality training and practical training on assisting people with different needs. Pricing is exactly the same as the standard uberX service.
Uber is hosting a launch event at Leeds Marriott hotel on Wednesday 23rd August – 4pm – 6pm when the team will provide an overview of how both services were designed and developed, including the training partner-drivers receive to enable them to support riders with various different needs. There will also be a demonstration of how the service works, and will be an uberACCESS vehicle available for you to take a look around. Refreshments will also be provided.
