York Site Project Manager awarded in national housebuilding competition
Site Managers working for local house builder, Barratt Developments, which includes both the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, have scooped four prestigious awards in a national competition to find the best-run building sites in Britain. This includes the Site Project Manager at David Wilson Homes’ The Chocolate Works development in York.
The Chocolate Works and its Site Project Manager, Martyn Thorley, gained official recognition with a Pride in the Job Award for the excellent standards on the site. This is the fifth time Martyn, who has worked at Barratt Developments for three years, has won a Pride in the Job Award, having secured the accolade four times before.
Other sites in the region awarded were Tranby Fields in Hull, Belle Vue in Doncaster, and The Pastures in Knaresborough. The awards are designed to recognise Site Managers who achieve the highest standard in housebuilding.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East’s Construction Director, Steve Mattinson, said: “We are thrilled to have our local Site Managers judged as among the best in the housebuilding industry once again. The role of a Site Project Manager is vital in ensuring the delivery of the highest standard homes and we are delighted that the team at The Chocolate Works have been awarded this prestigious recognition. It demonstrates our ongoing commitment to quality, and can only further the confidence our customers have in our position as a five star housebuilder.”
Martyn added: “I am so pleased to have received a Pride in the Job award for the fifth time in my career, and the second time at The Chocolate Works. I have an excellent team behind me on site and an extremely supportive construction department, so this is truly a group effort on everyone’s part.”
The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are the most coveted in the housebuilding industry and have been instrumental in driving standards for 38 years. They are awarded after the construction standard setting body, the NHBC, carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best-organised and best-quality housing developments.
This award comes on the back of Barratt Developments being awarded five stars by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for customer satisfaction. Barratt is the only major national housebuilder to be ranked as five star by the HBF for the last nine years.
David Wilson Homes’ The Chocolate Works development has recently launched its second phase of stunning two bedroom apartments. They are available to purchase from £326,995 and all come with a ten year National House-Building Council (NHBC) warranty. Boasting a range of attractions and restaurants nearby, and with York city centre just a stone’s throw away, The Chocolate Works is the ideal development for first time buyers, downsizers and professionals alike.
