  • TransPennine Express (TPE) has now launched its Transform grant scheme with £50k of funding available for community and environmental projects.

As part of the scheme, organisations and individuals from across the north of England and Scotland are being invited to apply for grants of up to £5k to help support causes across the TPE rail network.

People will have until midnight on Friday 27 September 2019 to submit their entries which must be submitted via the TPE website: www.tpexpress.co.uk/about-us/community/transform-grants

Last year TPE received more than 170 applications, with twelve recipients receiving funding, including: Open Minds Counselling in Doncaster; Cumbria Wildlife Trust; Heatons’ Men in Sheds, a Manchester based group who work to combat loneliness; Malton in Bloom; and The Skill Mill in Durham who used their £4,000 to help train young people, boosting their employment opportunities.

Charlie French from TransPennine Express commented: “Transform is now officially open and applicants have until late September to enter online using our website.”

“We want to help support our local communities and are looking for initiatives that will really benefit the regions we serve and I would encourage people to get in touch with their projects and ideas.”

Transform is open to: registered charities, community interest companies, community rail partnerships and schools and parent/teacher associations located within 10 miles of the TransPennine Express network.

Applications will be shortlisted and with the best from each region progressing to a vote where we will welcome customers and colleagues to show support for their favourite project.
