Building for the Future: Local housebuilder challenges students

Award-winning housebuilder, Barratt Homes, recently challenged a class of students at Boroughbridge High School to design and create their very own houses of the future, using only recyclable materials.

Claire Pearson, Sales Adviser from local Meadow Fields development, visited the school to judge the competition, where she crowned Ella Jakins, Phoebe Evans and Sophie Pearson the champions. The winning pupils were presented with a bespoke certificate highlighting their achievement, and the school was gifted a £75 voucher to use as they wish for their facilities.

Mrs Penny Town, Associate Senior Leader at Boroughbridge High School, commented: “We were delighted that Barratt Homes invited the children to get involved with an activity that promotes sustainability. The students had a great time building their own ‘sustainable house of the future’ and were really engaged in the activity. It was brilliant to see so many creative entries come through, and we’re especially proud of our winners!”

Claire Pearson, Sales Adviser from Barratt Homes’ Meadow Fields development, commented: “I loved visiting Boroughbridge High School to judge the children’s competition entries; it was brilliant to see their creativity shining through while using recyclable materials. Barratt Homes’ is always looking to highlight environmentally friendly activities, and to work with and support our local communities. Maybe some of the students may be inspired to become the housebuilders of the future as a result!
