Free workshops and advice for digital businesses this June
The West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges is launching a series of events to connect with key sectors in the Leeds City Region, starting with its first ‘Skills Cafe’ on Thursday 27 June.
Each month The Skills Service (WYCC) will host a ‘Skills Café’ offering good coffee and time with expert skills advisors to carry out ‘skills plans’ with SMEs.
This month’s café will also include free taster workshops for businesses working in the digital sector. The workshops will give businesses a flavour of the quality and variety of courses on through The Skills Service and are based on ‘in demand’ skills in the industry.
Digital businesses in the Leeds City Region must book onto the free workshops on Eventbrite. Alternatively, businesses can just drop in to East Parade Social to enjoy a coffee and benefit from a skills plan session with an advisor.
The drop in sessions will take place at East Parade Social (8-11am) and the workshops, take place at Avenue HQ (the same building as East Parade Social) at 9am and 10am.
The first workshop, Stand and Deliver is a micro-workshop focusing on presenting, pitching and communication skills for digital businesses. This will be delivered by Leeds City College.
The second, Unlock Your Inner Leader, is an ideal workshop for small digital businesses who would like to unlock the potential of future leaders. Delegates will be presented with some of the key principles and tricks of the trade for good leadership in the fast-paced digital sector and will be delivered by Leeds Beckett University Business School.
The Skills Service provides SMEs in the Leeds City Region with 40% European Social Fund grants towards training their workforce. Courses include over 700 listed in the Skills Catalogue, but if businesses can’t find what they need, skills advisors will help source that training.
Training providers contracted under The Skills Service will deliver the free, 45 minute workshops and delegates will take away some key tips and tricks of the trade from these expert trainers.
The Leeds City Region covers Bradford, Calderdale, Craven, Harrogate, Kirklees, Leeds, Selby, Wakefield and York.
