Housebuilder supports local charities and organisations in Yorkshire East, with launch of Community Fund

Local housebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, is celebrating the launch of its Community Fund, a scheme which will see a different charity or organisation receive £1,000 from the housebuilder every month.

Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, will donate £1,000 a month to support charities that are close to the hearts of its employees and customers within the Yorkshire East region – which includes Hull, Selby, Northallerton, Harrogate, York and Doncaster.

A different charity will benefit form the Community Fund scheme each month throughout 2019, to show the housebuilder’s dedication to supporting the communities in which it builds. The housebuilder already supports local charities wherever it can, recently raising £27,447.46 for St Leonard’s Hospice, its chosen charity of the year in 2018.

Since January, the housebuilder has donated to several deserving causes, including: Great Ormond Street Hospital, in support of Henry Waines, who was finally brought home after some 440 days in hospital. Her Breast Friend, a charity which provides an outlet for breast cancer survivors to share their skills and experiences – and finally, Prostate Cancer UK in support of an employee at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East.

Daniel Smith, Managing Director of Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, commented: “There are a number of charities and organisations that make a huge difference to the people of Yorkshire East. It is really important to us that we give back to the communities in which we build and the Community Fund will allow us to do that. There are so many worthy causes who deserve to be recognised for the outstanding work they are doing and the Community Fund will do that! We are really looking forward to working with the charities who will benefit throughout 2019 and beyond.”
