Leeds Hospitals Charity shop opens at Merrion Centre
Leeds Hospitals Charity has opened its first city centre charity shop at the Merrion Centre in the heart of the city’s Arena Quarter. The new charity shop, located in a prime position on the main mall, retails a wide variety of pre-loved items including homeware, clothing, accessories, books, toys and more.
Leeds Hospitals Charity is the partner charity for Leeds Teaching Hospitals and the new store, which opened on Saturday 29th May, supports the incredible work of more than 20,000 NHS staff working across Leeds Teaching Hospitals to care for patients and their families.
The Merrion Centre lies directly opposite the First Direct Arena where the city’s retail, entertainment, universities, civic and office areas meet, providing an ideal location for the new store.
Esther Wakeman, CEO of Leeds Hospitals Charity said:
“We are delighted to open our first city centre store in Leeds at the Merrion Centre, which is within close proximity to Leeds General Infirmary, one of the biggest hospitals we support. We are confident it will help raise the profile of the charity in the local community, with all donations helping to fund specialist equipment, life-saving research and improvements to the hospital environment.”
Kris McGinty, Retail Manager, Merrion Centre charity shop commented:
“We cannot wait to welcome customers to our Merrion Centre store which will be a pivotal way to help us raise much needed funds to continue to provide items to support the phenomenal hospital staff within the NHS.”
Charlotte-Daisy Leeming, Head of ESG for Town Centre Securities PLC (TCS), owners of the Merrion Centre said;
“Our Chairman & Chief Executive, Edward Ziff is Chairman of the Leeds Hospitals Charity and has experienced first-hand the amazing work the team carry out year on year.
It’s a pleasure to welcome the new charity shop to the Merrion Centre, which is ideally positioned to attract a range of new customers including the city’s student population, who we are sure will love to browse the selection of vintage and pre-loved items.”
