NYBEP work with schools across North Yorkshire and Bradford through their Successful Futures programme. Their mission is to prepare young people for the world of work, giving them essential employability skills.
Working annually with over 40,000 learners and facilitating over 6,000 work experience placements, NYBEP works with both primary and secondary schools across York, North Yorkshire and beyond. This year, Successful Futures has expanded and now include Leeds, Wakefield and Bradford and they are looking for businesses to work with them to inspire the next generation.
The Successful Futures programme includes a variety of practical interactions to help prepare students for the world of work including; constructive practise interviews, careers fairs to highlight the breadth of options open to them, enterprise activities to enable students to use key employability skills and understand how businesses run, hands on STEM activities, work experience placements and workshops focused on challenging gender stereotypes.
Graham Matthew from Ellis Patents Ltd, a cable cleat (cable support) manufacturer in Malton said “I enjoyed sharing with the attendees a glimpse into the real world of engineering and work, and I hope it may inspire some future engineers to join our field.”
Richard Askew from Askew Brook Ltd, a web development agency based in Scarborough and Chesterfield said “Try it! You can always find time, start with something short like an assembly. Things won’t change unless we help.”
There are over 100 different events across North Yorkshire and Bradford for you and your business to get involved with. Events range from 30 minutes through to full days and require no ongoing commitment. Support is always available from NYBEP’s professional’s staff from initial questions to event delivery, as well as with all communication with schools.
