The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Leeds ask the people of Leeds to get involved in ‘Just One Day’ on 17 May
Cllr Graham Latty, the Lord Mayor of Leeds, and Cllr Pat Latty, Lady Mayoress of Leeds, are asking everyone in the community to get together on 17 May and support their charity appeal in aid of St Gemma’s Hospice.
Since May 2018 the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, with support from their charity committee, have been raising vital funds for their charity Appeal. The Lord Mayor had aimed to raise an incredible £45,000 during the year, which is enough to pay for a St Gemma’s nurse to provide care for a full year. The Appeal is currently incredibly close to hitting that target, so to round off the year they are asking the community of Leeds to join them in a big day of fundraising.
‘Just One Day’ encourages everyone across the city to do something to support the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal. From bake sales to sponsored walks, whatever you choose to do will make a real difference. Already businesses, groups, schools and friends are planning what they will do to support the Appeal on 17 May.
With the help of the fantastic fundraising pack and you’ll have everything you need to make the day a success, including posters, balloons, bunting, games and collection boxes.
The Lord Mayor of Leeds says “We have been so humbled and inspired by the amazing work done by everyone at St Gemma’s Hospice. Every pound raised makes a really big difference to the patients and families in their care, who are going through a really difficult time. St Gemma’s is such a big part of the city, so we hope everyone across the city will join us in helping make sure it can continue to be there for our community for years to come.”
